Wildflowers are easily overlooked compared to their more flashy domesticated cousins. They are also often located in places that are harder to get to, flower whenever they feel like it, are much smaller, and live among distracting vegetation. But, I think they are the most beautiful, and when approached carefully, respectfully, and with adequate protection against thorns and mosquitoes, they share their beauty with us. I graduated with a degree in Botany so have more of a passing acquaintance with the anatomy of flowers, but not all botanists pause to appreciate the beauty of flowers. Yet, as with humans, beauty is a sexual attractant. Bees and other pollinators will not facilitate plant sex without being attracted by color, shape or scent.
